| Welcome to the Tockwith Training Trailer Towing website We are York based driving school specialising in training drivers to pass the Driving Standards Agency driving test to gain vocational driving entitlement for trucks and coaches. The driving test is carried out by the Driving Standards Agency by HGV (truck) examiners. A high level of driving ability, awareness and planning is required. Confused about whether you can drive a car and trailer? Answer • If you passed your driving test before 1/1/1997 you can tow a trailer • If you passed on or after 1/1/1997 you can't tow a trailer Note: you may still tow a very small trailer up to 750kg gross weight with any car or van and also a car and trailer combination with a gross weight under 3500kg. This excludes most 4x4's towing a large trailer such as a horse box trailer or caravan because they weigh more than 3500kg combined gross weight (car plus trailer).
